Here's news which will jolt the Nach Baliye 2 lovers! Guess who was shown the door in another exciting episode of this fun packed reality show? Tanaaz Lal and Bhaktiar Irani who have been the most promising couple in Nach Baliye 2 were voted out in the semi final episode which was shot yesterday in Film city.

The duo was predicted to bag the title of Nach Baliye's second season but destiny had other plans for them. Reveals a source, "They lost out on votes. Points wise they just scored a mark less than that of Hussain and Tina's, but had a tough battle to fight on vote's front."

Tanaaz (being the stronger one) took it well. Bhaktiar was not only disappointed but also dismayed. "He was certainly not expecting this, though the other couples were good too, somewhere they had always been consistent," says the source.

The buzz is that Mini was so disheartened that she didn't utter a word after the results were announced.

Judges who have always been very fond of this couple because of their fantabulous performances were not very shocked. "They believed that all three were good enough, so anyone shown the door would hurt them," adds the source.

On being contacted, Tanaaz says, "Well, I would comment on this once the episode is on air."

So it was the reality show, which flaunted its true colours. The audience decided who deserves to be in and vice versa. The results- they called the shots and showed the door to the over confident Jodi No 10!

Amitabh Bachchan fans are in for a disappointment but admirers of Shahrukh Khan can rejoice as he will take over from Big B as host of the hugely popular TV game show "Kaun Banega Crorepati".

Shahrukh said he was "pleasantly surprised" when the STAR network offered him the show but admitted it would be "a huge act to follow" in the footsteps of Amitabh, who made "KBC" one of the country's most watched TV programmes.

Samir Nair, CEO of the Star India channel that airs the show, told PTI in Mumbai, "Mr Bachchan expressed his disinclination to do the show and we respect his decision. We are indebted to him for what he brought to the show but now it is time to move on and who better to hand over the baton to than Shah Rukh Khan.

"We have been in talks with Shah Rukh Khan for over a month now and he expressed his willingness to do the show. Shooting will begin by December-end and we expect this season to be on air by January-end," Nair said.

Shah Rukh Khan was quoted in a Star India release as saying, "I was pleasantly surprised when STAR offered me the show. I was a participant in season one of KBC... and little did I know one day I would be hosting it.

"It is a huge act to follow, that of Mr Bachchan... but it also excites me that I am getting an opportunity to reach out (and) talk and interact with my audience through a medium where I began my career as an actor years ago."

The hugely popular show, characterised by Bachchan's baritone and personality, was in its second season when it had to be cut short due to the star's sudden illness.

Since then Star had been in talks with Bachchan for the next season of the show based on "Who Wants To Be A Millionnaire", but those fell through.

Nair said the contract with Shahrukh would be for two seasons with an option to extend it further if required. He declined to comment on the pay for Shahrukh, saying, "It is adequate."

"Shahrukh will bring to the show boundless energy and his own unique personality that will make it a new KBC all together. We will not be calling this season three in particular.

"However contestants who were not allowed to participate in the second season will be allowed to compete in this season," he said.

It has gossip, romance and drama, but India's prudish version of the worldwide hit reality show Big Brother has few takers on prime-time television long dominated by cat-fight soap operas.

The show went on air this month with 13 Bollywood film wannabes and has-been models, including a former Mr India, with the same format -- but much less skin and scandal -- as the international versions.

The series, Big Boss, tracks participants for over 100 days during which they are locked in a house and cut off from the outside world, with the television audience voting out one contestant each week.

The last one standing takes home Rs.5,000,000 (50 lakhs)

The first episode was watched by fewer than three percent of Hindi-language viewers among the nearly 62 million Indian households with cable television -- a paltry share compared to the 11.4 percent share notched by the top soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.

According to TAM Media Research agency, the first episode of Bigg Boss ranked number 22 among prime time Hindi entertainment programmes -- mainly soaps revolving around two women scheming to woo the same man.

"These ratings are quite low, especially for a new show for which there normally is far more buzz," added Ashutosh Bhagat of media buying agency Mindshare India.

The show is seen as a bellwether for advertisers who want to reach the more than half of the 1.1 billion population who are under 25 and make up the booming market for electronic gadgets and cosmetics, said media consultant Praveen Tripathi, chief executive of Hansa Consulting.

Favourite Kaun, Star Gold's TV show, goes bigger and ultra-glam, with a new format and new hosts. Accompanying them on the show is the vivacious Ayesha Takia.

Sabsey Favourite Kaun is all set to rock and this time on an international level. The award will cover a host of nations that includes the Middle East, South East Asia, U.S., U.K., Pakistan, Afghanistan, Australia and New Zealand.

This award is completely different from other Bollywood award shows. Here, the winners are decided completely by the fans who not only vote for the winners of every single category, but also vote to shortlist the stars as nominees. And the vote is for popularity, not performance -- winners can win even if they have not had a single release in the last year, but are popular with the masses.

The hosts for this year will be the 'funny trio' -- Ranveer Shourey, Vinay Pathak and Suresh Menon. Accompanying them will be the Sabsey Favourite Kaun International ambassador Ayesha Takia. The first episode goes on air mid November.
